Today, three-time Grammy® Award winner Ariana Grande debuts her eighth studio album, petal, at #1 on the Billboard 200, marking her seventh career #1 album and tenth Top 10 album on the chart. petal also debuts at #1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales and Top Streaming Albums charts. The album also earns Grande her biggest debut on the Billboard 200 since thank u, next.
Globally, petal surpassed 500,000 Adjusted Albums in its first week. Total global consumption, including lead single “hate that i made you love me” RTD, has now surpassed 1 million Adjusted Albums.
The album also debuted at #1 in 12 markets worldwide, including the Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and U.K. petal marks Grande’s first #1 album in France and Germany, where it also delivered her biggest first week to date, while Belgium likewise delivered her biggest first week in the market.
Across streaming platforms, petal debuted at #1 on Spotify Global Top Albums and #1 on Spotify U.S. Top Albums, while the title track “petal” reached #1 on Spotify Global. Both “petal” and “hate that i made you love me” have reached #1 on Spotify Global, and release week delivered the biggest global Spotify streaming day of Grande’s career, with more than 95 million streams across her catalog. petal also reached #1 on Apple Music and iTunes in the U.S.
The album’s title track, “petal,” debuts at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Grande’s 25th Top 10 hit and making her the 14th artist in history and sixth female artist to earn 25 or more Top 10 hits. Meanwhile, lead single “hate that i made you love me” climbs back to #2 on the Hot 100 this week. All eligible songs from petal chart simultaneously on the Hot 100, bringing Grande to over 100 career entries on the chart and marking her fourth consecutive solo album to have all eligible songs chart, a streak spanning thank u, next through petal.
Released July 31 via Babydoll Music / Republic Records, petal was co-written and produced by Ariana Grande and ILYA, with Max Martin joining them as co-writer and producer on three tracks. The album’s lead single, “hate that i made you love me,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Grande’s tenth career Hot 100 chart-topper and making her the first artist in history to debut the lead single from each of her first eight studio albums inside the chart’s Top 10.
