Louisville, KY – It’s about to get LOUD in Louisville as the long-running, fan favorite festival Louder Than Life returns for its 10th year in 2024! Producers Danny Wimmer Presents – one of the largest independent promoters in the U.S. – pulled out all the stops to celebrate a decade of Louder Than Life, North America’s Largest Rock Festival, including the mighty return of thrash gods Slayer to the stage. In addition to their headlining performance, Loudmouths can also look forward to metal heavyweights Mötley Crüe, Slipknot and Korn closing out additional nights of the four-day event, which returns to its home at the Highland Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY September 26, 27, 28 & 29, 2024.

Five full stages will keep the destination event amped up all weekend, welcoming additional performances from Disturbed, Judas Priest, Five Finger Death Punch, Evanescence, Falling in Reverse, Breaking Benjamin, The Offspring, Staind, Till Lindemann, Chevelle, Dropkick Murphys, Halestorm, Gojira, Seether, In This Moment, Anthrax, Sum 41, Mastodon, Tom Morello, and many more. Alter Bridge played the outdoor Summer Stage at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey on August 2, 2023. Their good friends in Sevendust and Mammoth WVH featuring Wolfgang Van Halen were the supporting acts.

The outdoor stage, just across the street from the boardwalk on the infamous Jersey Shore, was an incredible setting. The vibe felt like a festival setup, with plenty of food and drink options available. The Stone Pony itself was open, including its bars and bathrooms, with local bands playing inside both before and after the main show.

Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth WVH got the night started properly, showcasing several songs from their brand new album “Mammoth II”. Garrett Whitlock, Frank Sidoris, Jon Jourdan and Ronnie Ficarro were dynamic and entertaining. Wolfgang continues to grow as a vocalist, guitarist and songwriter. His future is quite bright.

Alter Bridge has begun the final North American leg of their “Pawns & Kings” 2023 Tour. The band played the outdoor Summer Stage at the legendary Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey on August 2, 2023. Alter Bridge has never played a bad show, but this night felt extra special. Perhaps it was the full moon, or the cool ocean breeze giving the northeast a break in the middle of a sweltering hot summer, or the awesome mood established by Sevendust and Mammoth WVH. Whatever it was, it even had Myles commenting that he was having so much fun vibing with the crowd, he was concerned that his guitar playing might get sloppy. That was clearly not going to happen, and his skills were evident during his acoustic performance of “Watch Over You” and his dramatic introduction to “Cry of Achilles”.

Orlando’s rock station 101.1 WJRR celebrated their 30th Earthday Birthday concert on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. The Orlando Amphitheater stage was used as the secondary stage. A massive main stage was built on the grass in the fairgrounds, with tons of room available for vendors, charities, food and drink.

Lajon Witherspoon and Sevendust played the heaviest set of the day, including the debut of their brand new song “Fence”.

John Connolly was still jumping and shredding, despite finishing his first marathon in Boston earlier this week, raising money in support of Down Syndrome charities and Orlando’s “Take A Chance For Charity” movement.

Breaking Benjamin finished off the night with an incredible long set full of hits. The crowd sang along passionately to every word. They went on earlier than planned, due to a last minute cancellation from Falling In Reverse, but nobody seemed to mind. Ben Burnley even brought his son onstage for several songs, playing along on a miniature BB branded guitar. People of all ages were thrilled by the emotional performance.

Taylor Momsen and The Pretty Reckless have come along way since her childhood acting days. They now boast an extensive catalog of hit songs and an enchanting live show. The band paused the show at one point, to alert security and medical that someone in the pit needed help.

Beartooth got a late start but made up for it with a strong performance.

Sevendust Joins Alter Bridge On May U.S. Tour Dates first appeared on Game On Media.

The 5th annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival took place in Alton, Virginia on September 8 – 11, 2022. Day 2 was a hot one, with fans up early to bake in the sun and bask in the sweet and savory sounds of a wide variety of artists. The day started at high noon with the bluesy southern chill of Blacktop Mojo, and ended with the frantic aggression of Mudvayne.

As the fans learned the day before, difficult choices had to be made, with stellar acts performing on either end of the massive site. The two side-by-side main stages, sponsored by Monster Energy and ZYN, definitely had enough star power to hold down their end of the festival.

Blacktop Mojo, Zero 9:36, Saving Abel, Buckcherry, Candlebox, Badflower, Sevendust, Underoath, Theory Of A Deadman, Halestorm, Gojira, A Day To Remember and Mudvayne delivered one punch after another.

If that wasn’t enough for you, things got even heavier on the opposite end of the event. The URW stage and Fan-Driven stage hit even harder than the main stages.

Alice Cooper, Down, Hatebreed, Bad Omens, Memphis May Fire, In Flames, All That Remains, Whitechapel, Slaughter To Prevail, Fit For An Autopsy and Insane Clown Posse gave it all, and could have made a fine festival lineup on their own. There really still are too many stages and too many heavy hitters at BRRF. It is impossible to catch everyone that you want to see.

Several times throughout the day, the bands on stage stopped to show, in order to alert security that a fan was down and needed help. Kevin Martin was the first to stop mid-song, and urgently direct security and medical personnel to get out into the pits to aid a concertgoer. Showing how classy and professional they are, Martin directed the band to pick up the song at the guitar solo, once the injured patron was safely taken away for medical attention.

Tickets and campsites are already selling well for next year, proving that die hard metal fans will endure anything to experience the power of live music, and the feeling of connecting with other people who are just as mental about metal as they are. Welcome To Rockville will feature more than 75 music acts over four days, with performances on four stages, along with award-winning spirits, craft beer, partner activations and the best food Daytona Beach has to offer.

Single day and weekend general admission and VIP passes for Welcome To Rockville are on sale now. Festivalgoers are encouraged to buy early and save as pass prices increase in throughout the coming months based on level quantities.  A limited number of specially priced tickets for military personnel are on sale now via GovX.

Welcome To Rockville campers get the ultimate experience, spending five days on the festival field right in the middle of all the action and with the quickest access to all the stages. Amenities include indoor restrooms and showers, in and out privileges, and a general store for supplies. A limited number of Weekend Camping Packages are available for both car and tent and RVs. Admission to the festival is not included in Weekend Camping Packages and must be purchased separately.

Welcome To Rockville VIP pass holders will receive a commemorative VIP laminate and wristband, dedicated entrance lanes into the festival, entrance into VIP areas, and access to dedicated viewing areas throughout the festival. The Daytona Owners Club VIP option is new in 2022. As a Welcome To Rockville “owner,” those choosing this pass option will truly be living like a ROCK STAR. The organization’s last in-person event was its 10th Anniversary Gala held at the Avalon in Hollywood in February, 2020. Its annual RIDE FOR RONNIE Motorcycle Ride and Concert and BOWL FOR RONNIE Celebrity Bowling Tournament have been temporarily suspended as the result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable fund formed in honor of the legendary Ronnie James Dio, who lost his life to stomach cancer on May 16, 2010. Cancer is a deadly disease that robs families of loved ones, and the Dio Cancer Fund is dedicated to support cancer prevention research, raise awareness and educate the public with the focus that early detection and prevention saves lives.

Since 2016, the Dio Cancer Fund has also committed funds to support the research of Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry in developing a simple, non-invasive saliva test for the early detection of cancer, which is in keeping with the Fund’s mission of cancer prevention, research and education.

Louder Than Life will feature nearly 70 music acts over 4 days, with performances on three stages, along with award-winning bourbons, whiskey, spirits, craft beer, and the best food Louisville has to offer. Festival attendees will enjoy a variety of onsite food and beverage experiences, as well as sponsor activations that celebrate the bourbon culture and culinary heritage of this unique American city.

Single day and weekend general admission and VIP passes for Louder Than Life are on sale now. Festivalgoers are encouraged to buy early and save, since pass prices will increase in the coming weeks. A limited number of specially priced tickets for military personnel are on sale now via GovX. Louder Than Life is produced by Danny Wimmer Presents, one of the largest independent producers of destination music festivals in America. Since debuting in 2014, Louder Than Life continues to develop and grow. 2020 has been an atypical year for the music industry. The usual album and tour cycles have been turned on their heads. Some bands chose to hold their albums for when touring starts up again. Some bands found creative ways to release their albums, many with livestreams to go with it. Other bands took the opportunity to record and release unexpected music, and much more of that will be coming in 2021. This year, we really embraced things that were new. That could mean bands that were new to us, famous friends going solo, or EP’s written in direct response to the current world events. Here are our Five Fave: 2020 Rock Albums.

#5 – Bring Me The Horizon – POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR / FEVER 333 – WRONG GENERATION

Bring Me The Horizon and FEVER 333 both produced EP’s this year, reacting in real time to current events. POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR clocks in at 32 minutes. WRONG GENERATION is a tight 18 minutes. Combined, they make a respectable album’s worth of material, so we are recognizing them together. BMTH created the song of the year – pandemic category – with “Parasite Eve”. F333 delivered the song of the year – social justice category – with SUPREMACY. The rest of each EP is full of on-topic desperation and immediacy, with cathartic releases of aggression and anger. Together, they will stand as the soundtrack to 2020.

#4 – Clint Lowery – God Bless The Renegades

Clint Lowery, guitarist / back-up vocalist / songwriter from Sevendust, has worked on several solo projects before, but this is his first proper album. He followed it up with a full band tour, opening for Alter Bridge, one of the best shows of the abbreviated touring year. This album shows all of his passion, thoughtfulness and musical beauty. He even managed to squeeze out another EP, “Grief & Distance”, during the pandemic.

#3 – Adelitas Way- Shine On

Rick DeJesus and Adelitas Way keep pushing ahead and pushing boundaries. With guitarist Tavis Stanley leading the way, and Tre Stafford and Andrew Cushing manning the rhythm section, this band continues to explore what rock and roll is, and they have cranked out a ton of great material over the past few years. “Shine On” is full of empowerment and encouragement, things we all need right now.

#2 – Corey Taylor – CMFT

As if leading two of the most prolific and successful bands, Slipknot and Stone Sour, wasn’t enough, Corey M-F Taylor reached Mark Tremonti status by creating a third incredible band. Corey grabbed his guitar, a piano and several of his closest friends and took a journey through the history of rock and roll, complete with a hip-hop collabo with Tech N9ne. “CMFT” is a brilliant album from a bunch of guys clearly having fun.

#1 – H.E.A.T – H.e.a.t II

H.E.A.T is a bit confusing, but let’s see if we can figure them out. I discovered them on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise, where hair metal bands from the 1980’s performed, but they are a modern act. Their singer has been Erik Grönwall for the past decade, including on this album, yet he has left the group and original vocalist Kenny Leckremo has returned. “H.e.a.t II” is their 6th album, and they labeled it as number 2. I give up. I do call it my favorite rock album of the year. Full of energy, anthemic choruses, killer vocals and shredding guitars.

Plenty of our familiar favorites dropped albums this year. For long-time fans, it was a welcome respite from the world, a warm blanket of sonic soothing. We got new music from AC-DC, Bon Jovi, Deftones, Green Day, Hollywood Undead, Ice-T and Body Count, In This Moment, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Puscifer, Sevendust, Smashing Pumpkins, and Testament. #5 – Body Count featuring Ice-T – Carnivore

Ice-T is a genius in all types of entertainment. Body Count is his rap-rock outlet. Ernie C is his guitarist and he continues to crank out original rock, as well as re-imagining old rap songs and cover songs.

#4 – Pearl Jam – Gigaton

Pearl Jam covers a lot of musical ground on “Gigaton”. You may not like it all, but you are bound to love some of it. This is the kind of album that grows on you over time, so give it a few listens, and it may surprise you.

#3 – Sevendust – Blood & Stone

The boys in Sevendust just continue to evolve and improve as songwriters. This album grooves and drives and takes you on a journey.

#2 – Ozzy Osbourne – Ordinary Man

Despite health issues that have postponed several attempts at touring, somehow The Ozzman made it into the studio and created one of his best albums. Guitarist and producer Andrew Watt had worked with Ozzy on a Post Malone song, and he recruited Chad Smith and Duff McKagan, with assists from Malone and Sir Elton John. The album is diverse and brilliant, perhaps the coda to a 50 year career that began with Black Sabbath.

#1 – Bon Jovi – 2020

Bon Jovi had finished this album, and booked a world tour to support its release, when the world stopped turning. Jon Bon Jovi, inspired by the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement, held the release, and wrote 2 more songs. “Do What You Can” and “American Reckoning” speak directly to society’s problems and promise. Overall, this album is full of heartfelt story telling, echoing Bruce Springsteen, and represents Bon Jovi looking outward, trying to make sense of it all.

Six months into the 2020 global pandemic, and I have literally started dreaming about attending festivals, photographing concerts, and interviewing artists. Music festivals and live concerts have been postponed, rescheduled and canceled, sometimes all three. As the fall events have finally been eliminated, and the winter rock cruises have been pushed into May, I have no idea when I will be lucky enough to cover an actual concert again. In the meantime, GameOn.media presents Fantasy Festival Friday – a fictitious concert performed by 5 bands we wish we could watch live in person, at full volume, with all of our rock family in attendance.

On Fantasy Festival Friday #1, our imaginations were thrilled by a nonstop barrage of aggressive, thought-provoking heavy rock sounds.

Fire From The Gods got our feet moving, and our minds expanding, with their reggae-spiced rock sounds. The set included timely hits including “Right Now”, “Break The Cycle” and “Excuse Me”. Vocalist AJ Channer has been extremely active in recent months, helping to spread a message of positive change. Fire From The Gods consists of Channer, guitarists Drew Walker and Jameson Teat, bassist Bonner Baker, and drummer Richard Wincader.

Next up was Fever 333, a band formed 3 years ago in Inglewood, California, with the express intent of raising awareness and making their voices heard. Their blend of hip hop and punk rock is the perfect vehicle to describe the reality of so many Americans. Their latest single “Supremacy” is just the latest socially conscious banger in an already impressive catalog. Lead singer Jason Aalon Butler, guitarist Stephen Harrison and drummer Aric Improta are dynamic live performers.

Nonpoint is another band who has been highly active throughout the quarantine. They re-imagined their song “Frontlines” into “Remember Me (A Frontlines Tribute)”, complete with fan-created content in the accompanying video. They also used social media to allow fans to choose their next cover song, in a March Madness style tournament. Stay tuned for more from vocalist Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, guitarists Rasheed Thomas and Jason Zeilstra, and bassist Adam Woloszyn. This stellar band was electric onstage, and engaging offstage, still meeting fans at the merch table 2 decades into their career.

P.O.D. kept the energy level high while elevating the crowd to a spiritual plane of existence. They played inspirational hit after hit, everything from “Alive” and “Southtown” to “Listening for the Silence” and “Circles”. Lead vocalist Sonny Sandoval commanded the stage. Drummer Wuv Bernardo and bassist Traa Daniels kept the fans moving and swaying throughout the set. Guitarist Marcos Curiel played those beautiful notes that pull it all together.

As if the night couldn’t get any better, Sevendust arrived to cap off this incredible evening. Hot off the recording of their 13th album, “Blood & Stone”, which drops in October, the band was recharged and ready to rock. Drummer Morgan Rose is healthy again and still a beast behind the kit. Bassist Vince Hornsby holds up the low end while individually acknowledging every fan in attendance. Guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery thrashed through decades of classics, also supplying brilliant backing vocals. Lowery released 2 solo albums this year, and appeared anxious to get back on stage after his solo tour was cut short. Lajon Witherspoon remains one of the top vocalists in rock, an emotional performer and the most genuine, appreciative lead man in any band.

Clint Lowery debuted his solo band and solo material, directly supporting Alter Bridge on their Walk The Sky tour at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, California on February 24, 2020. Best known as one of the guitarists and background vocalists for Sevendust, Lowery is finally recording and touring on his own.

Lowery’s album “God Bless The Renegades” is full of personal introspection and thoughtful observation. The music is in the hard rock style, with layers of guitars and vocals creating a full sound. Lowery has a beautiful soothing voice that truly shines on this album. Anyone familiar with his Hello Demons Meet Skeletons work will be pleased.

Clint Lowery performed vocals, guitar, bass and drums while recording “God Bless The Renegades”, with additional drums and bass provided by Wolfgang Van Halen. To recreate these layered sounds in a live setting, he enlisted Jonathan Jourdan on guitar and vocals, Ryan Bennett on drums, and Pat Seals on bass.

For a new band performing songs that hadn’t been heard before, the crowd reception was exceptional. This is a testament to the talent and professionalism that Lowery brings to bear, albeit in a new role for him. Hopefully he will follow the model set forth by Alter Bridge’s Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy, and continue to write and perform his own material in between Sevendust cycles.

Clint Lowery Thrills Los Angeles with “God Bless the Renegades” first appeared on Game On Media.

Alter Bridge continued their Walk The Sky tour at their familiar stop at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, California on February 24, 2020. They are supported on this leg by Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery and his solo band, and Deepfall.

With six outstanding albums to choose from, Alter Bridge has reached that stage where they could play for hours and you would still be able to wish they had played more songs. They played 4 songs each from their latest classic “Walk The Sky” and landmark “Blackbird”, 3 songs from “One Day Remains” and “Fortress”, and 2 songs from “AB III”. The full set list is below. This was perhaps my favorite sequencing of songs, with perfect pacing that took fans on an emotional journey.

There is perhaps no better concert experience than seeing a well-oiled machine of a band in a more intimate club or theater setting. The Wiltern offers multiple levels of standing room, balcony seating, a large stage, incredible lighting and perfect sound.

After 16 years together, Alter Bridge continues to rise in their songwriting and performances. Drummer Scott Phillips masterfully leads the group through all of their time signatures and sonic emotions. Bassist Brian Marshall is the epitome of cool, hanging back or stepping forward as the song dictates. Vocalist / guitarist Myles Kennedy just keeps getting better and better on vocals and guitar. Lead guitarist / vocalist Mark Tremonti shows his MVP status with his solos, riffs, harmony vocals and even lead vocals. This combination of musical brothers complements and enhances each other, producing one of the best live rock shows you will ever experience.

This tour is very special, with 4 bands having unique styles, who all deliver a positive, inspiring message to their fans. Skillet, Sevendust, Pop Evil and Devour The Day all consist of wonderful human beings who empower with their music. All of the bands showed genuine gratitude and appreciation for each other, making for a very inspirational show.

John Cooper, Korey Cooper, Jen Ledger and Seth Morrison are intense and on point with their live show. Pulling from 10 albums of material, including their latest release ‘Victorious’, the band delivered hit after hit. John Cooper took some time to dedicate certain songs to friends, family, fallen musicians and his personal savior Jesus. Skillet is a band rooted in their faith, but their musical message is subtle and open to personal interpretation. Overall, they focus on themes of overcoming and surviving, which can apply to almost any personal situation. Fans leave a Skillet show feeling powerful and cleansed, ready to take on the world.

Lajon Witherspoon remains one of the best front men in rock, delivering across the spectrum from soul to screams, all the while building a connection with the audience. He considers concerts to be family reunions. Bassist Vinny Hornsby is constantly engaging the crowd, working with drummer Morgan Rose to funnel drumsticks into the pit. Guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery are balls of energy unleashed. All 5 members sing beautifully, adding texture to all of their songs. In keeping with the inspirational messaging, Sevendust cut some of their angrier songs from the setlist, and focused on the more positive aspects of their sound.
