September Mourning unleash ‘Madness’ upon the world with new video and rescheduled tour dates

September Mourning are crawling out from their self-imposed isolation to bring “Madness” to the world. The quartet of vagabond soul reapers are unleashing the newest anime-action video from their latest EP Volume III.

Band founder, vocalist and namesake September (aka Emily Lazar) had this to offer of the latest video: “‘Madness’ is a song about being in a place of insurmountable illogical thought towards a situation that basically holds your heart hostage. We have all been in the position of dealing with a relationship with something or someone that has driven us mad… But what we sometimes don’t like to admit is that the process of driving us mad makes us feel alive. We sometimes choose that over the logical choice of ending such a relationship. In this song the narrator is convincing him or herself or that of a partner to once again make that illogical choice – to feel alive. There is a sense of masochism to the song, and one can say that love in itself can be just that: that time and time again we cower to the masochistic instinct and bleed our hearts dry for situations that leave us feeling crazy or driving us into madness”.

She continues: “The video follows our characters in the 4th book of ‘September Mourning: The Complete Collection’. It is a homage to the brilliant artwork of Top Cow/ Image comics artist, SumeyyeKesgin. In the graphic novel the quest to defeat Fate at any cost holds September’s heart hostage – she is willing to sacrifice herself for it.  Her blind ambition prevents her from seeing some of the logical missteps in her plan, as she plunges headfirst towards her battle with Fate”.

“Madness” continues to raise the band’s artistry to a new, more melodic level and adds a new dimension to their sound, following on the success of previous single “Overdose“. The band’s compelling live show and striking visuals have helped propel them into a national touring act that has performed at such notable events as Download (UK), Inkcarceration, Rock on the Range (Columbus, OH), Aftershock (Sacramento, CA), Rock USA (Wisconsin), Comicpalooza (Houston, TX), Anime Midwest (Chicago, IL), and many more. The band toured with Rob Zombie, Sons Of Texas, Twizted, Hed PE, Flaw, and Smile Empty Soul in 2019. The band will resume touring as long as it is safe to do so in June, including upcoming late summer and fall festival dates.

.
“We are extremely humbled by the support the fans put behind this festival in 2019 and wanted to bring them something even bigger in 2020,” the INKCARCERATION Festival team says. “For year three, we put together an extremely eclectic lineup that brings together all forms of rock. This festival is becoming known as the most unique event in the country, so we wanted to construct a lineup as unique as the venue itself! And, of course, it’s still the only rock festival held at a famous haunted prison! Expect lots of site upgrades from VIP to camping. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store!”
.
INKCARCERATION Festival will feature over 40 bands on two outdoors stages, 60 tattoo artists, reformatory tours, gourmet food trucks, the best drinks, camping and the return of the popular haunted house attraction Escape from Blood Prison.

Ohio State Reformatory’s historic building and grounds provide a perfectly eerie setting for the INKCARCERATION Festival. The massive, awe-inspiring locale is recognized as not only one of the most haunted reformatories in the country, but also as the filming location for multiple Hollywood films. The most famous of these films is the 1994 cinematic classic and IMDB highest rated movie of all time, The Shawshank Redemption, starring Hollywood legends Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins.
.
Once again, it will be Halloween in July at the INKCARCERATION Festival as Escape from Blood Prison makes an early appearance. The annual Halloween haunted house attraction typically runs from the end of September through early November at the Ohio State Reformatory, but this spooky experience will be open all weekend long for festival goers. Once Blood Prison takes over the reformatory, it is filled with bloodthirsty inmates waiting for victims to enter and try to make it through the facility alive.
.
“We here at the Reformatory are thrilled to be the home of the INKCARCERATION Festival again for year three,” says Dan Smith, Associate Director, Ohio State Reformatory. “The festival continues to bring some of the best music fans and tattoo enthusiasts from all over the world back to Mansfield! We can’t wait to share what will be the best INKCARCERATION Festival yet!”

September Mourning gives an Overdose of love to fans for the holidays with new Volume III EP

September Mourning is:
Emily Lazar (September) – Lead vocals
Rich Juzwick (Riven) – Guitars, Backing vocals
Patrick Romanelli (Wraith) – Guitars, Backing vocals
Kyle Mayer (Stitch) – DrumsSeptember Mourning are giving their fans a holiday treat with the release of an animated video for “Overdose”  as they simultaneously launch their new “Volume III” EP. The collection also includes an additional new song “Madness“.  Rounding out the EP are an uncensored version of “Unholy” and “Hiding From Heaven”.  The band has just announced a new round of tour dates that start in February (see below).

September says of “Overdose”: “This is a song about falling in love with someone or something so hard that it consumes you…and that the process of being consumed is actually a beautiful thing.   In reference to another person, it mentions a certain uncertainty in the second verse, of that other person’s view on life, love and having the courage to be deep in it.  The song reminds us that our views of life and love are our own and may not necessarily be shared by everyone and that’s ok.  If you stay true to your heart and beliefs, eventually those with similar views find each other”.

She continues “The video is an extension of the same animated universe we created with “Hiding From Heaven”, based on the September Mourning Graphic Novel. It takes place after Claire has finished playing the video game in the arcade. As Claire accepts September’s defeat in the “Hiding From Heaven” video game, a mystical flash of light appears and transports her to a world within the game.  The world is Mortem, the land of the dead.  Upon her arrival, she meets a shadowy figure that sets her on a quest into the Hotel Sanctuary to find 4 travelers and 3 artifacts”.

“Entering the Hotel Sanctuary Claire gets an uneasy feeling that there is more to the story than she has been told… Armed with the 3 artifacts and joined by her otherworldly compatriots, Claire finds the final obstacle to her return home is Fate…. We hope everyone likes the continuing saga of Claire, September and The Reapers”!

September Mourning released the “Volume 1” EP in 2015, and the full-length album “Volume 2” in 2016 – with singles “20 Below” and “Eye of the Storm” both reaching the Top 40 at Active Rock radio. The band released 2 singles in 2018: “Empire” and “Glass Animals”.  Their “Unholy” and “Hiding From Heaven” singles, released earlier this year, were featured on key Hard Rock playlists on all major streaming services.  The band has amassed more than 5 million plays of their songs @ Spotify; and more than 6.8 million overall worldwide.  Their videos have been viewed more than 6.6 million times on YouTube, with 21,500+ subscribers to their Youtube channel. The songs on the new “Volume III” EP were produced by 5-time Grammy Award winning Chris Lord-Alge; along with Josh Napert, & Nick Scott. “Unholy” was produced by Sahaj Tictotin (Motley Crue, Otherwise, Starset, RA).

The band’s striking visuals and dynamic, immersive stage show have helped propel them into a national touring act that has performed at Download (UK), Rock on the Range (Columbus, OH), Aftershock (Sacramento, CA), Comicpalooza (Houston, TX), Anime Midwest (Chicago, IL), as well as opening for Rob Zombie and other notable acts. They are already booked for the Incarceration Festival in 2020, with more to come.
