The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. Suicidal Tendencies performance was one of the best, flying high on a ship full of legends.

A Suicidal Tendencies show is part mosh-fest, part circus act, part thrash concert, and part spiritual enlightenment. As soon as they hit the stage, you take one deep breath and do not exhale until the set is complete. Mike Muir alternates between punk rock style singing, metal screaming and evangelical story-telling. Dean Pleasants, Ben Weinman and Ra Diaz are tasmanian devils running with the bulls as they shred magnificently.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. Testament was one of the standout bands, which was no easy feat on a ship full of legends.

Testament has been one of the top thrash bands since the beginning 4 decades ago. They have been consistently delivering new material and touring throughout, and that experience shows on stage. Chuck Billy, Eric Peterson, Alex Skolnick, Steve Di Giorgio and Gene Hoglan are in perfect sync.

Be on the lookout for the newest Testament album, “Titans Of Creation”, due in April 2020. The first single, “Night Of The Witch”, has been released and is incredible.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. When Dave Mustaine of Megadeth was diagnosed with cancer and unable to perform on the MegaCruise, Lamb Of God was tapped to replace them in the lineup.

Lead vocalist Randy Blythe is one of the most intense frontmen in rock. Bassist John Campbell and drummer Art Cruz kept the groove tight, allowing guitarists Willie Adler and Mark Morton to thrash over it.

It is certainly unexpected to witness the aggressiveness of Lamb Of God inside a beautiful theater on a cruise ship, but that is precisely what makes MegaCruise such a special experience.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. One of the most exciting parts of a metal cruise or festival is discovering something new. Everyone told me not to miss Beasto Blanco on the MegaCruise.

Beasto Blanco has been bringing the post-apocalyptic sleaze to the rock scene for almost a decade. Formed by Alice Cooper bassist Chuck Garric on guitar and vocals, the band also features guitarist Chris “Brother” Latham, bassist Jan LeGrow, drummer Sean Sellers, and co-vocalist Calico Cooper — who just so happens to be the daughter of Alice Cooper.

Beasto Blanco gave the last live performance of the cruise, in the theater on the final night. Finally I had my chance to see what all the fuss was about. What a show it was! Totally entertaining and fun, and the perfect way to top off an incredible cruise.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. Armored Saint lit up the deck stage, under the stars, as the ship sailed through the Pacific Ocean.

Armored Saint formed in 1982 and is one of the rare bands that still feature all of their original members, with the obvious exception of founding guitarist Dave Prichard, who passed in 1990, and was replaced by Jeff Duncan.

Vocalist John Bush has one of the most powerful and emotional voices in thrash, and he shined as bright as the full moon on this night. Joey Vera was as cool as ever on the bass and backing vocals. Drummer Gonzo Sandoval and his brother, guitarist Phil Sandoval bring the family bond that draws in the audience.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. One of the top bands performing was thrash legends Anthrax. Anthrax has continued to record and release outstanding music, and they blend it perfectly with their classic anthems.

Vocalist Joey Belladonna is still one of the top front men you can find anywhere, with a soaring range, and the ability to make a connection with every single fan in attendance. Riff master Scott Ian stomps and smirks his way through melodies that live in your soul.

Drummer Charlie Benante watches the beat with perfect timing, which is not easy in the thrash genre. Bassist and backup screamer Frank Bello is a ball of energy that is unleashed upon every stage he touches. Lead guitarist Jonathan Donais crushes solos, whether they are his own from the recent albums, or the classics that we all know by heart.

Queensrÿche played two intense pool deck shows on the MegaCruise in October 2019. New drummer Casey Grillo is a great fit, whether playing songs from the recent outstanding Todd LaTorre-fronted albums or classics from the band’s first decade. LaTorre was the MegaCruise MVP, tearing through Queensrÿche sets, drumming with Frank Bello and David Ellefson, and guest singing with other bands. Bassist Eddie Jackson is a stud musically and vocally. Guitarist Michael “Whip” Wilton and Parker Lundgren are shredding machines.

One of their sets was an opportunity to learn that when the ship’s Captain is making announcements, the band’s PA system is cut off. Three times the sound cut out for 30 seconds, which turned out to be the crew looking for Randy Blythe of Lamb of God, who was being delayed by Mexican customs (he later apologized during his set). The band played on, with the crowd screaming out the vocals until the sound kicked back in. It was certainly a show to remember.

In addition to praise for the Invasion album, JOHN 5 has been making news for his unlikely appearance on HGTV’s “A Very Brady Renovation.” Susan Olsen, the actress known for her portrayal of the beloved pig-tailed Cindy Brady recently posted a picture of her with JOHN 5 and Cindy’s beloved Kitty Carryall doll. “So there are photos that my friends and I have been sitting on because we don’t (and mustn’t) blow the reveals,” she wrote on her Instagram account. “But at last I can share! Cindy has a little brother now. MESSAGE FROM DAVE MUSTAINE

I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer. It’s clearly something to be respected and faced head on – but I’ve faced obstacles before. I’m working closely with my doctors, and we’ve mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate. Treatment has already begun.

Unfortunately, this requires that we cancel most shows this year. The 2019 Megacruise will happen, and the band will be a part of it in some form. All up to date information will be at megadeth.com as we get it. Megadeth will be back on the road ASAP.

Meanwhile, Kiko, David, Dirk and I are in the studio, working on the follow up to Dystopia – which I can’t wait for everyone to hear.

I’m so thankful for my whole team – family, doctors, band members, trainers, and more.
