Guitar virtuoso Nita Strauss provided direct support for Wolfgang Van Halen and his band Mammoth WVH inside the House of Blues at Downtown Disney in Orlando, Florida on November 22, 2023. Strauss featured songs from her new album, “The Call of the Void”.

Nita Strauss has been performing with Alice Cooper for the past decade, while maintaining a solo career as well. Her 2018 album “Controlled Chaos” contained all full band instrumentals. Her latest effort features several guest vocalists, including Alissa White-Gluz, Lzzy Hale, Dorothy, Lilith Czar, Chris Motionless, David Draiman, Anders Friden and Alice Cooper.

The show opened with 5 blistering instrumental numbers, culminating in a drum solo by Nita’s drummer and fiance Josh Villalta. Bassist Christopher Dean, guitarist Johnny Young and keyboardist Katt Scarlett combined to provide a driving wave of metal sounds, which Strauss surfed with precision and joy. Her signature Ibanez guitar sang, cried and screamed at every movement of her magical fingers.

The second half of the set featured songs from “The Call of the Wild”. Deadlands vocalist Kasey Karlsen stepped in to deliver the vocals recorded by some of the icons listed above. She did an incredible job on all of the songs, elevating the overall show.

Nita took advantage of the venue being located at Disney Springs, and took the stage wearing Minnie Mouse ears. That is a very common sight in Orlando, but not as often seen on a rock and roll stage. Her choice and her sly smile immediately set the tone for an engaging performance.

Evanescence and Halestorm, supported by Lilith Czar, finished off the last week of their fall tour, which had to be rescheduled due to Covid concerns. Neither wicked winter weather nor tragic tour bus fires could stop this show from happening.

Halestorm continues to elevate their stage show, showcasing the passion and talent that have brought them to the top of the rock world over the past decade. Lzzy Hale, Arejay Hale, Joe Hottinger and Josh Smith go above and beyond in delivering hit after hit. Not many bands today add solos and extended jams to their songs, but Halestorm the band has an old soul, and a reverence for classic rock grandeur.

Amy Lee and Evanescence took the stage determined to continue the spirit and spectacle laid down before them. Will Hunt, Tim McCord, Troy McLawhorn and Jen Majura are the perfect complement to Amy Lee’s shifts from quiet piano player to ethereal rock singer.

Gathering together these days as a rock community feels more precious and special than it ever has. This is just as true for the artists and their crews as it is for the fans. The highlights of the night were Amy Lee singing along on “Break In” with Lzzy Hale on piano, and Lzzy returning the favor while Amy played piano on Linkin Park’s “Heavy”.

Evanescence and Halestorm are currently preparing to kick off one of the biggest arena tours of the year and have just added additional dates in Denver, Tampa, Nashville, and Minneapolis. The tour, which kicks off November 5^th in Portland, Oregon, is slated to be one of the biggest female-fronted tours in years.

The four new dates will go on-sale this Friday, September 10, at 10am local time at evanescence.com and halestormrocks.com. Earlier in 2021, Evanescence released The Bitter Truth, their first album in 10 years, which the LA Times called their “fiercest songs to date.” Current single “Better Without You” is their first Top 10 Rock Radio track in ten years, and previous single “Use My Voice” is currently nominated for “Best Rock” at the MTV Video Music Awards. It’s the second year in a row that Evanescence has scored a Best Rock nomination, as well as the second year in a row that they are the sole female-fronted act nominated in the category.

“All I Had to Lose” featuring Mark Morales, the first single from Lamb of God guitarist MARK MORTON’s second solo offering, entitled Ether, is available today via iTunes HERE. Listen to the track, which features the Sons of Texas vocalist: “’All I Had To Lose’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written,” MORTON says. “Mark Morales’ incredible vocal performance really brought it to life and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I’m so grateful to get the opportunity to stretch out stylistically and appreciate everyone who’s given this stuff a listen!” Ether, a primarily acoustic five-song EP, is scheduled for release on January 17 via Rise Records. As with last year’s solo debut, Anesthetic, the guitarist enlisted the talents of various musicians and vocalists to bring his songs to life. In addition to Morales, who regularly tours as part of MORTON’s live band, Ether features appearances by Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage, Light the Torch), John Carbone (Moon Tooth). Musically, MORTON performs all guitars, with Roy Mayorga, David Ellefson, Ray Luzier, Paolo Gregoletto, Alex Bent, Mike Inez, Jean-Paul Gaster, Steve Gorman, Marc Ford, Yanni Papadopoulos and Chris Brooks completing the band. The single “Cross Off,” featuring late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington and Trivium’s rhythm section of Paolo Gregoletto and Alex Bent, spent six weeks in the Top 10 Active Rock US radio chart and has now amassed more than 14 million plays on Spotify and YouTube.
