ANTHRAX

PLAN MIDNIGHT IN-STORE SIGNING

IN LOUISVILLE, KY

TO CELEBRATE

SEPTEMBER 18 RELEASE OF

‘CURSUM PERFICIO’

BAND WILL VISIT GUESTROOM RECORDS

FOLLOWING THEIR SEPTEMBER 17 PERFORMANCE

AT LOUDER THAN LIFE

ANTHRAX will celebrate the release of their long-awaited 12th full-length studio album CURSUM PERFICIO (Megaforce Records) with a late night in-store signing in Louisville, KY. Immediately following their September 17 performance at the city’s annual Louder than Life festival, ANTHRAX will meet fans at Louisville’s Guestroom Records (1330A Bardstown Rd). Beginning at 12:01 AM on September 18, the multi-GRAMMY® Award-nominated New York hard rock titans—Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals), and Jonathan Donais (guitar)—will be signing copies of the new album. Space for the event is limited. To attend this special release event, fans must pre-order the album directly from Guestroom Records HERE. Only albums pre-ordered via the link will be eligible for the signing.

CURSUM PERFICIO marks the band’s first record in ten years since 2016’s For All Kings, which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. The phrase Cursum Perficio is Latin for “My journey has come to an end”, “My journey is over, or “I complete my journey. It proves apropos for such a complete body of work. It will be available in various configurations including an indie exclusive – red, orange yellow vinyl double LP with pop-up gatefold. To pre-order/pre-save, click HERE.

CURSUM PERFICIO album cover

Thus far, ANTHRAX have released two singles and videos from CURSUM PERFICIO“It’s For The Kids” a classic ANTHRAX ripper locked and loaded with buzzsaw-sharp riffs, explosive drumming, and a howling and head-banging hook. It undoubtedly has all the makings of a future live staple. Listen HERE and watch the official music video HERE. It was followed by “The Edge Of Perfection,” highlighted by clean guitar echoes and cymbals that gently shake until a blastbeat blows open the doors. Guitars buzz like a motorboat on the River Styx, making waves through the darkness. In their wake, a crushing rhythm trails the melody of lead singer Joey Belladonna’s lament, “My heart breaks…I’m on the edge…I’m on the edge of perfection.” Listen to “The Edge Of PerfectionHERE and watch the official music video HERE.

The band dove into recording CURSUM PERFICIO in earnest during 2022, working out of Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles. They carefully pieced together what would be this magnum opus, mining their history with reverence, delivering on fan expectations tenfold, and broadening the scope of their signature sound. Produced by Jay Ruston and ANTHRAX, the result is an album that’s as angry, aggressive, and alive as their most celebrated fare.

The CURSUM PERFICIO track listing is as follows:

Persistence of Memory

The Long Goodbye

It’s For the Kids

Everybody’s Got A Plan

The Edge Of Perfection

Infectious

NYC93

Cursum Perficio

Anthrax Bassist Frank Bello Releases Memoir

Fathers, Brothers, and Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, and Anthrax

Rare Bird is excited to announce the release of Frank Bello’s Fathers, Brothers, and Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, and Anthrax, coauthored with Joel McIver, including a foreword by Gene Simmons of KISS.

Frank Bello, bassist with the legendary New York thrash metal band Anthrax since 1984 – one of the “big four” of thrash metal – has sold over 10 million albums, travelled the globe more times than he cares to count and enthralled audiences from the world’s biggest stages. He and his bandmates have even been awarded keys to the Bronx in recognition of their status. His long-awaited memoir would be a gripping read even if its pages only contained stories about his life as a recording and touring musician. While those stories are indeed included—and will blow your mind—Bello also focuses on deeper subjects in Fathers, Brothers, and Sons. Once you’ve heard his life story, you’ll understand why.
*
Born into a family of five, Frank grew up in difficult circumstances. His father abandoned his wife and children, and Frank’s mother moved heaven and earth to keep them fed and educated. Left with no male role model, Frank found inspiration in heavy metal bass players, following their example and forging a career with Anthrax from his early teens—first as a roadie, and then as the group’s bass player. International stardom came Frank’s way by the mid-to-late 1980s, when he was still in his early twenties, but tragedy struck in 1996 when his brother Anthony was murdered in New York. Although the case went to trial, the suspected killer was released without charge after a witness, intimidated by violent elements, withdrew his testimony.

Two decades later, Frank is a father himself to a young son. Like many men who grew up without the guidance of a dad, he asks himself important questions about the meaning of fatherhood and how to do the job well. This is the wisdom which Fathers, Brothers, and Sons offers readers. Despite the emotive nature of these topics, Fathers, Brothers, and Sons is a funny, entertaining read. A man with a keen sense of humor and the perspective to know how surreal his story has been, Frank doesn’t preach or seek sympathy in his book. Instead, he simply passes on the wisdom gained from a lifetime of turbulence, paying tribute to his loved ones in a way that will resonate with us all.
*
Frank Bello is an American musician, most notable as bassist for the legendary thrash metal band Anthrax. On hiatus from Anthrax, he briefly performed with Helmet, but he has appeared on every Anthrax release since 1985. He lives in New York.

Joel McIver is the bestselling author of Justice for All: The Truth About Metallica, which has been translated into nine languages, and several other books. He has written for Rolling StoneThe GuardianMetal HammerClassic Rock, and he is the occasional guest on BBC. Classic Rock magazine has called him “by some distance Britain’s most prolific hard rock/metal author.”
*
Fathers, Brothers, and Sons was released on November 2, 2021, in hardcover, e-book, and audiobook and retails for US $28. A percentage of sales will be donated to charities assisting abandoned families.

The inaugural Megadeth’s MegaCruise set sail from Los Angeles, California to San Diego and Mexico in October 2019. One of the top bands performing was thrash legends Anthrax. Anthrax has continued to record and release outstanding music, and they blend it perfectly with their classic anthems.

Vocalist Joey Belladonna is still one of the top front men you can find anywhere, with a soaring range, and the ability to make a connection with every single fan in attendance. Riff master Scott Ian stomps and smirks his way through melodies that live in your soul.

Drummer Charlie Benante watches the beat with perfect timing, which is not easy in the thrash genre. Bassist and backup screamer Frank Bello is a ball of energy that is unleashed upon every stage he touches. Lead guitarist Jonathan Donais crushes solos, whether they are his own from the recent albums, or the classics that we all know by heart.
