The 5th annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival took place in Alton, Virginia on September 8 – 11, 2022. Day 2 was a hot one, with fans up early to bake in the sun and bask in the sweet and savory sounds of a wide variety of artists. The day started at high noon with the bluesy southern chill of Blacktop Mojo, and ended with the frantic aggression of Mudvayne.

As the fans learned the day before, difficult choices had to be made, with stellar acts performing on either end of the massive site. The two side-by-side main stages, sponsored by Monster Energy and ZYN, definitely had enough star power to hold down their end of the festival.

Blacktop Mojo, Zero 9:36, Saving Abel, Buckcherry, Candlebox, Badflower, Sevendust, Underoath, Theory Of A Deadman, Halestorm, Gojira, A Day To Remember and Mudvayne delivered one punch after another.

If that wasn’t enough for you, things got even heavier on the opposite end of the event. The URW stage and Fan-Driven stage hit even harder than the main stages.

Alice Cooper, Down, Hatebreed, Bad Omens, Memphis May Fire, In Flames, All That Remains, Whitechapel, Slaughter To Prevail, Fit For An Autopsy and Insane Clown Posse gave it all, and could have made a fine festival lineup on their own. There really still are too many stages and too many heavy hitters at BRRF. It is impossible to catch everyone that you want to see.

Several times throughout the day, the bands on stage stopped to show, in order to alert security that a fan was down and needed help. Kevin Martin was the first to stop mid-song, and urgently direct security and medical personnel to get out into the pits to aid a concertgoer. Showing how classy and professional they are, Martin directed the band to pick up the song at the guitar solo, once the injured patron was safely taken away for medical attention.

Tickets and campsites are already selling well for next year, proving that die hard metal fans will endure anything to experience the power of live music, and the feeling of connecting with other people who are just as mental about metal as they are. Blue Ridge Rock Festival 2022 has announced their full lineup and daily schedules, and we cannot wait for this event to start its engines. With the world-class lineup in place, plans for the new venue at Virginia International Raceway are taking shape. Ghost, Mudvayne, Slipknot and Disturbed are the main headliners on Thursday through Sunday, September 8-11, 2022, with a bonus Wednesday night event featuring Puddle Of Mudd. This time around, you won’t have to worry about miles of walking and figuring out which artists you will miss. ALICE COOPER ANNOUNCES SPRING 2022 TOUR DATES

NEW ALBUM DETROIT STORIES OUT NOW

Alice Cooper‘s 2022 tour schedule continues to grow.

After wrapping a successful and uninterrupted Fall 2021 tour, Cooper recently announced a run of January and February dates ahead of a headline appearance on the Monsters of Rock Cruise, which takes place February 9 through 14. Today, Cooper has confirmed a slate of new Spring 2022 dates, kicking off on March 18 in Connecticut and wrapping on April 23 in California. Cooper, a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, usually spends up to six months a year on the road, bringing his iconic brand of rock psycho-drama to fans both old and new, enjoying it as much as the audience does. Known as the architect of shock rock, Cooper (in both the original Alice Cooper band and as a solo artist) has rattled the cages and undermined the authority of generations of guardians of the status quo, continuing to surprise fans and exude danger at every turn, like a great horror movie. Alice Cooper concerts remain a “not-to-be-missed” attraction!

Alice’s universally acclaimed 2021 album Detroit Stories is available via earMUSIC. The record is a celebration of the sound and spirit of the Golden Era of Detroit rock, and debuted on the Billboard Album sales chart at #1 upon release in February.

The Associated Press called Detroit Stories “a masterpiece of classic rock, soul and R&B in homage to the city that produced him,” while Entertainment Weekly proclaimed the release “a love letter from Cooper to his city, and one that encourages a deep dive into his own back catalog and that of his peers.” Variety deemed the album “a delicious tip of the hat to ’70s classics such as ‘Killer’ and ‘School’s Out’ without sounding like a throwback.” Rolling Stone enthused, “That spirit of rock & roll abandon still exists in Cooper’s music half a century later, and his inherent showmanship is why people still fill theaters to see his guillotine act. Joyous Wolf is a young band with an old soul, making them a perfect choice to open for Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Deep Purple. Vocalist Nick Reese, guitarist Blake Allard, bassist Greg Braccio, and drummer Robert Sodaro bring a classic rock and roll sensibility to their music and performance. The Long Goodbye Tour stopped at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California on September 6, 2019.

We caught up with the Southern California boys after their well-received set, to discuss the whirlwind year they are experiencing. Joyous Wolf has been signed to Roadrunner (Atlantic Records), recorded their debut album “Place In Time”, created several videos, toured for 6 months with Buckcherry, and opened for Stone Sour, Slash with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and now Deep Purple. When asked what their most memorable day in the past year was, the answered varied from “Tomorrow”, “Today”, “Being accepted and tutored by Buckcherry”, to “Being able to open for Slash”. They are very appreciative of the way that the experienced bands have treated them, and they study what it takes to maintain a long career in music.

The band always spends time at the merch booth, signing autographs and taking selfies with every fan, truly putting in the effort to win over each individual.  They put the same work in onstage, squeezing everything they have into their allotted time, engaging the crowd who typically doesn’t know who they are, many of whom end up joining the Joyous Mob.

In April, INKCARCERATION Music and Tattoo Festival was awarded Mansfield, Ohio’s prestigious Tourism Award of Excellence, and has been recognized by the United States House of Representatives, Ohio Senate, State of Ohio Representatives and Congressional Proclamation.

Mentioned above, Escape from Blood Prison is the annual Halloween haunted house attraction hosted at the historic Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, OH. It typically runs from the end of September through early November every year, but INKCARCERATION will make this spooky attraction available for festival goers to experience all weekend long in 2019!
