Louisville, KY – It’s about to get LOUD in Louisville as the long-running, fan favorite festival Louder Than Life returns for its 10th year in 2024! Producers Danny Wimmer Presents – one of the largest independent promoters in the U.S. – pulled out all the stops to celebrate a decade of Louder Than Life, North America’s Largest Rock Festival, including the mighty return of thrash gods Slayer to the stage. Louisville locals are invited to celebrate the Louder Than Life lineup with three events this weekend, starting with a Dare to Care food drive at Kroger in Breckenridge this Friday, February 23 from 4:30-7 p.m., in which fans can donate five non-perishable items to unlock service fee free passes. Welcome To Rockville continued to fill the Daytona International Speedway with heavy music and passionate fans on Friday, May 19, 2023.

The Warning played a great set on the Space Zebra main stage. The Villarreal Vélez sisters from Mexico were dressed in white, a smart choice based on the oppressive heat during a daytime show. Lead singer Daniela even strapped on a white explorer guitar for their version of Enter Sandman, which Metallica had requested for the black album reissue. The Warning delivers a powerful sound from 3 small women.

Ayron Jones was shredding along with his boys from the Puget Sound on the Octane stage. The only thing hotter than the sun beating down on the crowd was Ayron’s hot licks. He played several new songs, along with his recent hits. Ayron told the crowd that he was there for the other outcasts, freaks and misfits. 

Badflower crushed their performance on Space Zebra main stage. They cleverly played “It’s 5:00 Somewhere” as they walked on stage a little after 5:00. Josh Katz came out in a white cutoff T-shirt which parodied himself, and a pink beanie hat. Insanely, they were only given 30 minutes, so they tore through “Don’t Hate Me”, ” Johnny Wants To Fight”, “Heroin”, “The Jester”, “Ghost”, “Stalker” and “30”. Josh roamed the pits to get close to everyone. Fans sang along to every word. It was a phenomenal show which ended far too soon. This festival could be improved with fewer artists and longer sets for the bigger acts.

Sleeping With Sirens rocked the Octane stage with their high energy squeaking, like a puppy with an annoying toy.  

Motionless In White lit up the Space Zebra main stage, quite literally, with plenty of fire, lights and videos. This was the 1st US show of 2023 for the goth metal hit makers. They recalled playing Welcome To Rockville a lot, but this was their 1st time at Daytona. Chris Cerulli exclaimed “Welcome to watch the goth band melt in the sun show!” He thanked Florida radio and SiriusXM Octane for their 1st #1 hit “Masterpiece”, which was a huge singalong. They had a guest screamer,  David Benites, on Reincarnate. They had time for 10 songs and each one got a huge reception. 

SXM host Jose Mangin had his wife Melissa Mangin introduce I Prevail on the Octane stage. Women really seem to love this band. 

Country star Hardy played the main stage. There was some controversy about having him on the lineup. It would be interesting to see if he can win people over. The band, 2 guitarists and a drummer, came out rocking to lasers. Hardy came out looking like a yoked Kid Rock, singing “Sold Out” with the massive crowd singing along. “Kill Sh!t Till I Die” went over very well in gun loving Florida. The overall vibe was country songs with alt rock music.  Hardy played a guitar for “Jack”. He told the crowd “This is our first ever rock show. We are a rock band tonight.” Some of the songs echoed Green Day in sonic tone, others were metal and thrashy. The show was all rock, with smoke and lights. They did a cool cover of “Big Empty” from Stone Temple Pilots. He played his ironic “Radio Song”, joined by Florida’s own Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember. Hardy shotgunned a beer while singing “The Redneck Song”, which brought an extended “Hardy! Hardy!” chant from the crowd, and that put a huge smile on his face. He wanted to play one country song that changed his life and showed how thankful he is to live in greatest country in world. He covered Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country” which ended with another huge chant of “USA! USA! USA!” He finished with “The Mockingbird & The Crow. There was no doubt that he belonged at this festival.

Evanescence delivered the best show of the day on the Octane stage. The band’s newest member, Emma Anzai, provided angelic backing vocals and incredible bass playing. Amy Lee has so much power and emotion, even had the crowd roaring in response to an acapella whisper. Amy challenged everyone to use their voice and fight for each other and for what is right. She reminded that we are all in this together, and she hopes that love will win. For the encore, she mentioned that it has been 20 years since the “Fallen” album was released. They are still out here doing it, and having more fun than ever. Everyone sang along to “My Immortal”, and attempted to keep up with her unmatched vocal skills on “Bring Me To Life”. 

Finally, it was time for the long awaited return of Avenged Sevenfold, after 5 years away. A7x led off with a slow, weird and chaotic new song, “Game Over”. They also had a weird instagram filter on the live video screens, which looked like Thanos has snapped his fingers. Then things kicked into gear when they started “Afterlife”, which got the fans psyched. “Hail To The King” kept things moving along nicely. After that, M. Shadows noted that they have been gone awhile, and they have to get used to the energy brought by the crowd. He introduced another new song, “We Love You”, which was frankly not good. Most people were just confused. It changed tone drastically throughout, from club pulse to acoustic slide guitar and heavy breathing. It sounded like a German Nine Inch Nails song. Shadows could sense the crowd’s confusion and commented “Give it some time; you might like it some day.” 

There was a huge roar as they started playing “Buried Alive”. There’s nothing cooler than the lefty-righty back-to-back double solos from Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates. Next was a touching tribute to “The Rev” in front of “So Far Away”. Shadows reminded everyone to be in the present in the moment and enjoy the life you have today. Tell people you love them enjoy moments like this. Thousands put up their lighters and phones in tribute. 

A third new song, “Nobody”, got the best reception, with a riff reminiscent of Alice In Chains. The rest of the set was classic A7X. Despite the set being a bit short for a headliner, and Shadows admitting that the band had a ways to go in order to return to form, it was a wonderful experience all around. Not many cared about anything else but enjoying the experience of “Nightmare”, “Bat Country”, “Unholy Confessions” and “A Little Piece Of Heaven”. Welcome back!

The 5th annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival took place in Alton, Virginia on September 8 – 11, 2022. Day 2 was a hot one, with fans up early to bake in the sun and bask in the sweet and savory sounds of a wide variety of artists. The day started at high noon with the bluesy southern chill of Blacktop Mojo, and ended with the frantic aggression of Mudvayne.

As the fans learned the day before, difficult choices had to be made, with stellar acts performing on either end of the massive site. The two side-by-side main stages, sponsored by Monster Energy and ZYN, definitely had enough star power to hold down their end of the festival.

Blacktop Mojo, Zero 9:36, Saving Abel, Buckcherry, Candlebox, Badflower, Sevendust, Underoath, Theory Of A Deadman, Halestorm, Gojira, A Day To Remember and Mudvayne delivered one punch after another.

If that wasn’t enough for you, things got even heavier on the opposite end of the event. The URW stage and Fan-Driven stage hit even harder than the main stages.

Alice Cooper, Down, Hatebreed, Bad Omens, Memphis May Fire, In Flames, All That Remains, Whitechapel, Slaughter To Prevail, Fit For An Autopsy and Insane Clown Posse gave it all, and could have made a fine festival lineup on their own. There really still are too many stages and too many heavy hitters at BRRF. It is impossible to catch everyone that you want to see.

Several times throughout the day, the bands on stage stopped to show, in order to alert security that a fan was down and needed help. Kevin Martin was the first to stop mid-song, and urgently direct security and medical personnel to get out into the pits to aid a concertgoer. Showing how classy and professional they are, Martin directed the band to pick up the song at the guitar solo, once the injured patron was safely taken away for medical attention.

Tickets and campsites are already selling well for next year, proving that die hard metal fans will endure anything to experience the power of live music, and the feeling of connecting with other people who are just as mental about metal as they are. Louder Than Life will feature nearly 70 music acts over 4 days, with performances on three stages, along with award-winning bourbons, whiskey, spirits, craft beer, and the best food Louisville has to offer. Six months into the 2020 global pandemic, and I have literally started dreaming about attending festivals, photographing concerts, and interviewing artists. Music festivals and live concerts have been postponed, rescheduled and canceled, sometimes all three. As the fall events have finally been eliminated, and the winter rock cruises have been pushed into May, I have no idea when I will be lucky enough to cover an actual concert again. In the meantime, GameOn.media presents Fantasy Festival Friday – a fictitious concert performed by 5 bands we wish we could watch live in person, at full volume, with all of our rock family in attendance.

On Fantasy Festival Friday #2, our hearts were as full as our voices were loud, as we sang along to the emotional hits of Shinedown, Nothing More, Highly Suspect, Badflower and Crobot.

Crobot kicked it off with their typical energetic performance. Brandon Yeagley is a force of nature with a great voice. Guitarist Chris Bishop has moves as funky as his grooves. Drummer Dan Ryan and bassist Eddie Collins shine, particularly on songs from their latest album, “Motherbrain”, including “Lowlife” and their current barn-burner “Gasoline”. Don’t pregame too long in the parking lot, you will want to catch this opening set.

Next up was the chaotic beauty of Badflower. Josh Katz captivates an audience like few can. Joey Morrow, Anthony Sonetti and Alex Espiritu weave in and out of quiet reflection and explosive noise, perfectly complementing Josh’s gut wrenching vocals. Badflower is going to be huge, now that they have broken through after a decade of putting in the work.

“Terrible” Johnny Stevens led Highly Suspect through an intense show. You never know quite what to expect from this band, but you know it will be entertaining. Brothers Rich Meyer on bass and Ryan Meyer on drums are as tight as can be. New addition Matt Kofos adds another guitar and keyboards to the mix, fleshing out their live sound. They continue to evolve their sound, with elements of hip-hop being added to their blues base.

Nothing More went next, driving the crowd into a frenzy as they unveiled the sequel to their Scorpion device. This is something that must be seen to be believed. Jonny Hawkins, Mark Vollelunga, Daniel Oliver and Ben Anderson were a welcome sight back on the stage, after spending time working on new music. Nothing More is one of the most original, creative and dynamic acts to come along in decades.

Finally, the main event arrived. Shinedown opened the highly anticipated show with their latest single, “Atlas Falls”, which is their record 16th #1 rock song, and has raised over $300,000 for Direct Relief. Shinedown has always been a band that wears its heart on its sleeve, and bares their soul through their songs. This is what connects Brent Smith, Barry Kerch, Zach Myers and Eric Bass to each other, and to their adoring fans. Every show is a shared catharsis and spiritual release, empowering everyone present.

Badflower headlined the Music Box in San Diego, California on October 14, 2019 as part of 91X’s Inspired by Music Series. A passionate crowd was anxious to connect with one of rock music’s rising superstar bands. San Diego got a taste of Badflower at the KAABOO Festival this past September, but the Monday night set at Music Box was a full show, which was a real treat for fans who had only seen their short festival and opening act sets. Music Box is great little venue near iconic Little Italy — it is a modern upscale live-music venue with 3-levels serving craft cocktails & a variety of small plates and awesome acoustic sounds, which Badflower elevated to the next level with their badass performance.

Badflower is currently on tour with special guests, Dead Poet Society and Weathers, who opened the night with their alternative and energetic rockin’ beats. Both bands got the crowd jumping and ready — thankful to be in San Diego, gave very engaging performances, and brought fun vibes getting the crowd singing along and jumping on cue. The show was partnered with local San Diego radio station, 91X, as part of the “91X’s Inspired by Music Series.” The event was an “all ages show.” 91X hosted the night, introduced the bands, and gave a special toast to local San Diego brewery Green Flash Brewing Company, for being a generous contributor to the San Diego music scene.

Badflower is a compilation of raw and intensity… transforming acoustic to heavy rock driven by their emotional and soulful lyrics to touching hearts. The boys in the band consist of Josh Katz, Alex Espiritu, Joey Morrow, and Anthony Sonetti. Their full-length album titled “OK, I’M SICK” debuted earlier this year and they performed songs from this album and their 2016 EP titled “Temper”. Singer and guitarist Josh Katz commented about them literally getting sick while at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento over the weekend before this show, which was so apropos for this tour name, “OK, I’M SICK” and said, “I’m feeling sexy like San Diego and we will do our best” and, their passionate performance that Monday night was nothing but sexy as hell and definitely the best ever!

Badflower is not only bringing their musical therapy to people but they are helping out on a global level giving back. Their “OK, I’M SICK” album was released in 2019 and they kicked off their first ever “OK, I’M SICK” Tour hitting major and mid-sized cities throughout the U.S., and with every ticket sold, $1.00 will be donated to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS), a non-profit marine conservation organization based in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, Washington, in the United States, in efforts to preserve the marine/aquatic life around the globe. In November, they will head overseas and hit Germany, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom and then back to the northeast United States wrapping up 2019 in Michigan… what a way to end this year and decade!

The night at Music Box was full of raw acoustic sounds, heavy rock and awesome messages received in audible and visual forms… sensory overload, not at all, and totally therapeutic! The show started with an audio recording and visual of text messages being typed on the stage screen to set the tone and musical scene before the band came out to kick off the set. Lyrical messages were projected throughout the show with words and emojis… like Love, Even, Face, The, Truth, Grow, Up, Now, I, Have, To, Let, Go, Miss, You, So, Much, Heart ;( …  The concert was like an arena show with lights booming, alternating with acoustic sets morphing into heavy beats, heads banging, arms waving, and of course mosh pit dancing instigated by Josh Katz, which he dubbed the “circle jerks”, engaged fans and Badflower alike until the very end. Josh Katz bantered with the audience throughout the night, and his stage presence was just like their music, so raw and human. Josh told the “circle jerks”… “There’s some people who don’t want bruises tonight. Some people do, some people don’t. Just, just be mindful.” Their physical performance from guitar and drum solos, guitar footwork, dancing and jamming on knees and backbends into the crowd was really impressive that night, especially since they were feeling sick and not up to par.

Shinedown has been on a steady rise for the past 16 years, growing from a support act in the club scene to a worldwide headliner. As their latest single, “Monsters”, became their 14th #1 rock single, the band hit the summer road with the biggest production of their stellar career. Vocalist Brent Smith and drummer Barry Kerch have been on this journey together for close to 2 decades, and once guitarist Zach Myers and bassist/keyboardist Eric Bass joined for the making of “The Sound of Madness”, their performances have skyrocketed.

On Sunday, July 21, 2019, Shinedown brought their Attention Attention tour to Fivepoint Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. The opening bands were Broken Hands, Dinosaur Pile-up, and one of the hottest new bands around, Badflower. Zach Myers even graced the stage for one Badflower song.

Shinedown has always delivered sonically and emotionally with their audience, but this tour takes things to a new level. Specifically, the higher level seating. At Fivepoint Amphitheatre, the “lawn” seats are actually stadium-style metal bleachers. Halfway through the set, the boys disappeared from the main stage and suddently emerged on 4 small stages that were set up in the crowd, amongst the ecstatic fans. They played 4 songs from this intimate location, interacting with the crowd and each other in between songs.

As Shinedown made their way back to the main stage, a recording of Linkin Park’s “Numb” played with a photo of Chester Bennington, who committed suicide on July 20, 2017, which is also Chris Cornell’s birthday. Zach and Brent then performed a dramatic version of “Black Hole Sun” as a tribute to Cornell, followed by a full band electric version of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man”. Then it was back to the Shinedown catalog, featuring lasers, fire, and creative video. This was yet another inspiring, hopeful show from one of the best bands you will ever experience.

The ninth annual Welcome To Rockville Festival expanded to 3 days in 2019, spread out across Jacksonville, Florida’s Metropolitan Park along the St John’s River. Fans were treated to eats rom the following local and regional restaurants and food trucks: Barrique, The Bread and Board, BC Taco, Brucci’s Pizza, Cely’s Filipino Cuisine, Chinchilla’s Eatz on the Streetz, Dos Vatos Tacos, Eli’s BBQ, Gouda Boys, Grumpy’s Homemade Ice Cream, Guanabana Ice Pops, Island Noodles, Mama’s Food Truck, Mojo’s BBQ, Pie Baby Wood Fired Pizza, Pele’s Wood Fire Pizza & Tuscan Kitchen, Sweet Pete’s, The Girls Gone Green Nacho Bar, Ubora Coffee, What’s The Catch Fish Tacos, and Wurstbusters Truck. Saturday, May 4, 2019 was Day 2 of Welcome To Rockville. There were no dangerous thunderstorms on this day. Instead there was plenty of sun, heat and humidity. The three stages were filled with heavy hitters all day long – Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Judas Priest, The Cult, Skillet, In This Moment, Black Label Society, Yelawolf, Tremonti, Badflower, The Damned Things, Zeal & Ardor, Wage War, Movements, Crobot, Boston Manor, Pretty Vicious, and Dead Girls Academy. Zippo also provided an acoustic stage for intimate performances from several artists. One of the day’s great highlights was Badflower killing their Zippo Session acoustically, and shortly after that tearing through an electric set. Both sets left the crowd emotionally satisfied. All of the bands put on emotional performances, but none more so than hometown heroes Shinedown. During their nightly tribute to Jacksonville’s legendary Lynyrd Skynyrd, Brent Smith brought out Ronnie Van Zant’s granddaughter as he and Zach Myers (and the loud crowd) performed ‘Simple Man’.

After welcoming a sold-out crowd of 60,000 people in 2018, Aftershock returns even bigger this year, expanding to three full days of performances from some of the most popular music acts, including a mix of chart-topping headliners and up-and-coming buzzworthy bands across the rock spectrum. Camping at Epicenter will let patrons keep the rock n’ roll party going all through the weekend and will set this festival apart from other U.S. rock shows. Camping spots are connected to the festival grounds and include perks like access to showers, portable restrooms, food and drink vendors, charging stations, information and medical services, as well as a Thursday night pre-show party. Campers will also have late night access to Rockingham Village, an impressive promenade featuring food, drinks, merch shopping, entertainment, art and activities until 2:00 AM daily. Rockingham Village will be conveniently located immediately in front of the venue, adjacent to the North Premium campgrounds. Camping options will include immersive, Premium Spaces on the North Side of the site as well as free options in the South Side campgrounds.

Rockingham Village at Epicenter will be open for extended hours to allow fans to eat, drink, shop and see performing artists before and after the main event. Featured vendors will include festival merchandise, artist merchandise, lockers for rent, lifestyle shopping booths, a full General Store, coffee shop, craft beer at Headbangers Beer Bar, Caduceus wine bar, breakfast vendors for campers, as well as late night food served after the main venue closes. The Village will also have a stage featuring cover bands and Hellzapoppin Circus SideShow performances throughout the weekend.

After a record-breaking year in 2018 that welcomed a sold-out crowd of 90,000 over an expanded three-day weekend, Welcome To Rockville returns even bigger in 2019.

The ninth annual edition of Florida’s Biggest Rock Experience will take place Friday, May 3, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 at Metropolitan Park in Jacksonville, Florida and will feature must-see headlining sets from some of the biggest names in rock including Tool, Korn, Rob Zombie, Incubus, The Prodigy, Shinedown and Judas Priest—making their Rockville debut.

General Admission and VIP tickets, as well as hotel and camping packages, for Welcome To Rockville go on sale Friday, December 7 at Noon ET at  www.WelcomeToRockvilleFestival.com.

Premier independent U.S. music festival producer Danny Wimmer Presents has announced the highly anticipated music and comedy lineup for their new destination event, Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival, which debuts at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, May 17, Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Multiplatinum artists Foo Fighters, System Of A Down and Disturbed lead the spectacular and diverse music lineup for Sonic Temple, which will also feature performances from Bring Me The Horizon, The Prodigy, Ghost, Halestorm, Lamb of God, Chevelle, Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, The Cult, and many other chart-topping and up-and-coming music artists. SiriusXM’s Comedy & Spoken Word Tent will include comedy from Andrew Dice Clay, Pauly Shore, and others, as well as a spoken word set from Henry Rollins. The festival will feature three music stages, premium food and beverage selections, art installations, and enhanced onsite experiences.
