Australian platinum-selling hip-hop trio Hilltop Hoods kicked off the final leg of “The Great Expanse World Tour” on Friday, November 8, 2018 in San Diego, California at Music Box. The jaunt will stretch until December 12 with main support from Adrian Eagle and special guest DJ Total Eclipse (X-Ecutioners) and has already sold-out shows in Portland, Chicago and Calgary.

The intimate, multi-level Music Box was packed for the Hilltop Hoods first ever show in San Diego. Most of the crowd was familiar with their music, and those who weren’t walked away as fans, as they brought a high level of energy from start to finish. They are a fun band who rap and sing with joy and skill that is undeniable.

The show opened with fellow Australian Adrian Eagle. Adrian is a large man with a soft voice, and his show was more soulful R&B than hip-hop. His voice is soothing and his beats were smooth, making for a nice warm up to the evening. He later joined HTH during their set to perform their gold selling ARIA Award winning single “Clark Griswold”.

The second act was DJ Total Eclipse, who mixed and cut up a blend of rap and rock from the past several decades. He got the girls dancing, which raised the level of energy as the main floor filled to capacity.

Finally, drummer Plutonic Lab took his seat behind the drum kit, alongside DJ Total Eclipse, who is filling in for DJ Debris while he works things out with U.S. Immigration. Suffa and Pressure bounded onto the stage, unleashing their positive vibes and carefree approach to hip-hop. They were highly interactive with the crowd and thoroughly entertaining.
