Because of YOUR incredible support, we are excited to announce that a new piece of legislation was introduced, called the SAVE OUR STAGES Act. The bill, introduced by Senator Klobuchar (D-MN) and Senator Cornyn (R-TX), is a bipartisan effort and would provide a lifeline to independent venues, promoters, festivals, and more.
We are so thankful for your support and are asking for your help once again. Please head to SaveOurStages.com and sign a new letter to let your representatives know you support NIVA, the Save Our Stages Act, and the RESTART Act.
With well over one million letters sent already, progress is being made. Now we need to let Congress know the SOS and RESTART Acts must pass. They are set to vote within the next week, so please, take the time to send another letter today.
As you know, the letter is already completed for you, just add your information, customize if you’d like, and send it!
If you’ve written once, twice, or three times already – we cannot thank you enough. Please write in again, it could not be more urgent.
Make your voices heard-it’s quick, easy, and free. Ask your legislators to support and cosponsor S. 4258/H.R. 7806 the Save Our Stages Act & S. 3814/H.R. 7481, the RESTART Act, which would ensure the survival of independent venues, festivals and promoters across the nation.
Senators Introduce Bill to Fund Independent Venues Struggling During COVID-19
“The Save Our Stages Act will provide the assistance we need to get through the shutdown until we can reopen safely and once again become the economic generators for our communities that we’ve always been.” – NIVA Advocacy Co-Chair Adam Hartke
America’s independent music clubs and theaters are at death’s door.
Right now, there are no fewer than three bills in front of Congress, all of which could help the live music industry survive the catastrophic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Congress’s last day in session is August 7. The session could theoretically be extended, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has stated he will not do that.
The bills are designated as RESTART, Save Our Stages (a.k.a. “SOS”), and ENCORES (Entertainment New Credit Opportunity for Relief & Economic Sustainability).
