The Elton John movie ‘Rocketman’ has arrived in theaters. Taron Egerton (Kingsman franchise) stars as Reginald Dwight AKA Sir Elton Hercules John. With Elton’s encouragement, Egerton sang all of the songs in the film, using his own vocal interpretations rather than mimicking one of pop music’ most celebrated voices. Writer Lee Hall and director Dexter Fletcher used the songs to help tell the story, and created unique arrangements, which helped prevent direct comparisons. This movie covers a lot of ground, in a very entertaining and visually stimulating way. All of the emotions of life are on display, well written and finely acted. This is one of the most original and creative biopics ever made, which the subject matter clearly deserves, as Sir Elton continues to be larger than life both on and off the stage.
